Rainbows

I thought this would be good practice for gluing as well as matching colors. I also thought they would really enjoying being set free with the glue bottles, but as usual I was wrong. They did half the gluing and I helped them finish up. At three years old they are both very good at their colors. They do seem to enjoy anything that is like a game though. This idea came from: Let's Explore!

  • Rainbow outline with colors
  • bits of colored paper
  • glue

Shapes, Cake, and Shadow Box

Shapes Activity I used the idea from: www.notimeforflashcards.com

It worked really well. I did some different shapes, and lots of little ones to match. It is important to do different colors of the large shape so they really have to think about the shape and not just the color. Then you can mix them up and work on color matching too.

Cake, the recipe comes from: www.se7en.org.za
I am getting more brave about letting Aiden "help" in the kitchen. I guess since I am not terribly inept at baking/cooking myself I tend to be a little controlling. But today he poured in all the dry ingredients and unwrapped the butter.

Shadow Box:
  • shoe box
  • tempera paint
  • paint brush
  • colored paper
  • glue
  • apron - made from an old receiving blanket
Aiden wanted to make a zoo, so he painted the inside green
I drew the animals and he colored them
I cute the animals out
Then for a little extra education we made corresponding first letters and matched them up a couple of times before glueing them in the box.
